GemPort’s NEW workshop 🔨 This will be ready very soon!
Decorated, new sink is in and full security measures are being installed.
This not only means our services are growing but it will also soon be possible to book yourselves in for a workshop experience.
Up to four people will be able to book themselves in on a Saturday or Sunday morning and under qualified instruction, create their own wedding bands or other jewellery. This will be a half day experience including lunch and refreshments.
Don’t worry, the full bespoke GemPort consultation facility will still be available across our courtyard, business as usual!

It’s with great pride that we can officially announce that GemPort Jewellery are finalists in Manufacturing of Excellence in the Family Business Awards 2016!
The Family Business Awards is a non profit initiative. This is the seventh year they have been held. Thanks to the amazing generosity of sponsors, the awards raise a huge amount of money for charity whilst recognising the many achievements of family business from right across the Midlands.
The official Family Business Awards Finalist documents arrived this week and we’re absolutely thrilled
The selection process is quite involved, with initial entry, shortlisting and choosing finalists, then interviews with the judges and sometimes a site visit too. Wish us luck!
Make a note of November the 17th in your diary. It is the awards ceremony and dinner, when we join the other finalists at a glittering, glamorous night where we find out who won!
Here’s is a video clip from last years awards highlights!
The award for Manufacturing Excellence looks in depth at the structure and nature of the business itself. It takes into account how family values and family members have guided the development of the business, the board and ownership structure and how decisions are made. Other important factors include personal development, innovation, overcoming adversity and commitment to the community.
GemPort Jewellery has always played an active part in our local community. It’s something we truly believe in. We’re proud of our Black Country heritage, sponsor local sports teams and social events and have many charitable interests.
Our community is very important to us and as family and friends we overcome adversity together.
Intensely blue, velvety smooth, and pairs perfectly with diamonds.
Sapphire(and its sibling Ruby) is a variety of corundum, a very hard and tough mineral—second in hardness to diamonds. Sapphire is mined throughout the world, but Madagascar is the world leader. The largest, flawless and most famous sapphire, the Logan sapphire, weighing in at 422.9 carats, was mined in Sri Lanka and is on display at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.
One of the big three gemstones (along with rubies and Emeralds), Sapphiresare wildly popular as a birthstone and as an accent to diamonds in engagement and wedding rings. One of the most famous sapphire wedding rings is a 12-carat oval blue Ceylon set in 18ct white gold engagement ring and surrounded by 14 round diamonds, once Princess Diana’s wedding ring and now on the finger of her daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton.
Sapphires have been prized since the Middle Ages, when the clergy wore them to enhance their virtue. The September born will appreciate the stone’s reputation for banishing negative thoughts and increasing intuition and insight. In the modern era, brides wear sapphires as their “something blue” to bring good luck as they walk down the aisle.
This gemstone is associated with Faith, Honesty, Wisdom and Serenity.
